RATINGS RAT RACE: NBA Finals Game 5 Dips From 2012, ‘Miss USA’ Down

After Game 5 of the NBA Finals last year, the Miami Heat were celebrating a championship. At the same mark this year, LeBron James & Co. are in a very different position, trailing the San Antonio Spurs 3-2. Ratings for this year’s NBA Finals too have been trailing last year’s, with last night’s Game 5 posting a 11.4 overnight rating, down 3% from last June’s decider. Things are looking up for ABC, which is getting at least one more game in this year’s finals and is projected to win Sunday night.

Miss USA continues to fade. Last night, NBC’s telecast of the 2013 pageant drew a 1.3/4 in adults 18-49, down a steep 28% from last year after a 18% drop from 2011 to 2012. And that was with a solid lead-in from the conclusion of the U.S. Open golf tournament on the East Coast. (2.1 18-49 in the fast nationals.) Also hitting a low (season low) was CBS’ 60 Minutes (0.9/3, down 25% from last week.)
