RATINGS RAT RACE: NFL Pro Bowl Dips, ‘The Good Wife’ Hits Series Low, ’60 Minutes’ & ‘Family Guy’ Down

It’s less than a week to Super Bowl XLVII but there was no absence of football on television last night. The NFC pummeled the AFC on Sunday in the annual NFL All Star Pro Bowl (3.3/8) game on NBC on Sunday. With 62 points to the AFC’s 35, the NFC set a single-game Pro Bowl record in the Honolulu-played game. However while the NFC set a high, in time zone metered-markets, the 7:30 PM to 11 PM broadcast dipped 8% from the 3.6/9 of last year’s January 29th game. The 7 PM half hour Pro-Bowl Pre-Game (3.0/9) was down 23% from last year in fast nationals. Fast affiliate ratings are not time zone adjusted but expect to see them rise in the final numbers. The 2012 game rose from 3.6/9 to 4.3/11 in the final numbers. With 9.8876 million watching, NBC edged a victory over CBS’ audience of 9.670 million to win the night in overall viewers. NBC was number one on Sunday among Adults 18-49.

With its much-hyped joint interview with President Barack Obama and outgoing Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, 60 Minutes (1.7/5) took a hit from the football game. The news magazine show was down 48% from its last original on January 13. 60 Minutes was followed by an encore airing of NCIS (1.0/2) and a new episode of The Good Wife (1.5/4). Hitting a series low, the drama fell 21% from its last original two weeks. At 10 PM, The Mentalist (1.8/5) ended the night for CBS, down 14% from its January 13 show.

Fox kicked off its Sunday comedy block with a Bob’s Burgers (0.8/2) repeat. That was followed with a new episode of The Cleveland Show (1.2/8), which slipped 8% from its last new show two weeks ago. The Simpsons (1.2/3) was even with its January 13 show, while a new Bob’s Burgers (2.0/5) was down 13% from its last original two weeks ago. While the highest-rated entertainment show of the night among the key 18-49 demo, Family Guy (2.8/7) was down 13% from its last original two weeks ago as was American Dad (2.1/5). ABC started off primetime with repeats of America’s Funniest Home Videos (1.8/5) and Once Upon A Time (0.9/2). The new two-hour Hallmark Hall Of Fame: The Makeover (1.1/3) movie cratered 27% down from last year’s January 29th Hallmark Movie: A Smile As Big As The Moon.
