RATINGS RAT RACE: ‘Under The Dome’ Cracks, ‘Bachelorette’ Rises, ‘Masterchef’ & ’24′ Steady

It was that usual summer mixed bag of repeats and original programming last night across almost all of the Big 4. CBS’ only new show of the night was Under The Dome (1.7/5) — but it was not a clear view by any stretch. The second show of the second season was the most-watched show of the night with 7.71 million viewers, but the summer drama based on the Stephen King tale took a hard 19% dive from last week’s season premiere among adults 18-49. It was also down 1.68 million viewers from last week and hit a series lows in the key demo.

Over on Fox, things were truly cooking. First course was MasterChef (1.9/7). The never subdued Gordon Ramsay series was even with last week and the top-rated show of the night in the demo. Next up was the penultimate episode of 24: Live Another Day (1.5/5). Full of the international intrigue, competing factions and betrayal we’ve come to expect from this limited event series, the latest 24 bopped up 7% from its June 30 show. Fox was tops Monday in both the demo (1.7/6) and total viewers (5.850 million).

ABC was the only other network with a full slate of new stuff last night with The Bachelorette (1.8/6) and Mistresses (0.9/3). The two-hour reality show was highly emotional as bachelorette Andi Dorfman, the aspiring men of her dreams and the show’s producers addressed the death of contestant Eric Hill, who died from a paragliding accident earlier this year. Ratingswise, The Bachelorette was up 13% over last week in adults 18-49. That result matched the best the show has done this season since its start May 19. Lead-out Mistresses slid 18% from last week to match a series low.

NBC’s sole new show of Monday’s primetime was American Ninja Warrior (1.8/5). The two-hour show was steady with last week with a 6% rise over its most recent show June 23. NBC was preempted in San Francisco for baseball, as was the CW in Sacramento.

Speaking of the CW, the season finale of Beauty And The Beast (0.3/1) was even with last week.
