Ratings: ‘Red Nose Day’ Nosedives NBC’s Numbers

NBC’s “Red Nose Day” raised a lot of money on Thursday night — but not the network’s ratings.

Despite raising over $21 million, the three-hour charity comedy show received just a 0.8 rating — down 27 percent from last week’s primetime lineup — among adults 18-49, and averaged a modest 3.2 million total viewers.

CBS actually topped Thursday with a lineup of five reruns. To be fair, Thursday night had the distinction of being the first night of the lighter summer season; coupled with the Memorial Weekend holiday, television wasn’t going to get a ton of eyeballs no matter what aired.

CBS was first in ratings with a 1.1 rating/4 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.7 million, according to preliminary numbers.

Fox was second in ratings with a 1.0/4 and third in viewers with 3.8 million. Following a rerun, “Wayward Pines” rose to a 1.2/4 — up 20 percent from its premiere, which was up against ABC’s Shondaland finales last week — and 4.6 million viewers.

ABC was third in ratings with a 0.9/3 and second in viewers with 3.9 million. At 8, the second night of seven-evening event “500 Questions” dipped 17 percent to a 1.0/4 and had 4.6 million viewers. A rerun followed.

NBC and Univision tied for fourth in ratings, both with a 0.8/3. NBC was fourth in total viewers with 3.2 million, airing only the fundraiser; Univision was fifth with 2.1 million viewers.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.6/2 and in viewers with 1.5 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.2/1 and in viewers with 688,000, airing just repeats.
