Ratings: Rising ‘Carmichael Show’ Helps NBC Edge Past CBS, Fox

NBC’s “The Carmichael Show” rose in its second week of airing and helped the network to a Wednesday night win. The show’s 9 p.m. episode was up 18 percent from last week’s series premiere, earning a 1.3 rating, while the 9:30 episode was up 22 percent from last week with a 1.1.

CBS originals declined week over week, with “Big Brother” getting a 2.0 rating and Halle Berry-led sci-fi drama “Extant” getting a 0.7 rating.

After reruns, ABC’s “Celebrity Wife Swap was up 13 percent from its previous episode last week, earning a 0.8 rating.

NBC was first in ratings with a 1.3 rating/5 share in the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic and in total viewers with an average of 5.9 million, according to preliminary Nielsen numbers. In addition to “The Carmichael Show,” the network was helped by “America’s Got Talent” at 8 p.m., which was the most watched show of the night with 9 million total viewers.

CBS and Fox tied for second in ratings with a 1.2/4. CBS was No. 2 in total viewers with 5.4 million while Fox came in third with 4 million. “Big Brother,” at 8, was the second most watched show of the night with 6.5 million, while 4.8 million watched “Extant.”

Fox’s “Masterchef” got a 1.5 and was watched by 4.7 million viewers, while at 9, “Home Free” got a 1.0 and was watched by 3.4 million viewers.

Univision was fourth in ratings with a 1.0/4. It came in fifth in total viewers with 2.5 million.

ABC was fifth in ratings with a 0.9/3 but came in fourth in total viewers with 3.4 million. After an 8-10 repeat of its Wednesday night comedy block, “Celebrity Wife Swap” at 10 got a 0.8 and 2.9 million total viewers.

Telemundo was sixth in ratings with a 0.8 and in viewers with 1.7 million.

The CW was seventh in ratings with a 0.3 and in viewers with 928,000. “America’s Next Top Model” at 8 got a 0.4 and 1.2 million total viewers, while “Wicked Offer” at 9 got a 0.2 and was watched by 641,000 viewers.
