Robin Gibb Dead at 62

The music world lost one of its greats Sunday.

"The family of Robin Gibb, of the Bee Gees, announce with great sadness that Robin passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery," a rep tells Us Weekly in a statement. "The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this very difficult time."

Gibb, 62, was put in a coma after contracting pneumonia in April. In 2010, the tenor had emergency surgery for a blocked bowel and then had an additional operation for a twisted bowel; he also had intestinal surgery on March 26, 2012 to remove a "blood clot that caused perforation."
