Sam Shepard, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Oscar-nominated actor, was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving on Monday, according to The Associated Press.

Sante Fe police Lt. Andre Dobyns said a local restaurant's security called the police at approximately 7:45 p.m. to report an intoxicated driver attempted to leave in a pickup with the emergency brake engaged. "Our officer could smell alcohol on his breath, and he had bloodshot, watery eyes," Dobyns said.

This is not the first time Shepard has been arrested on drunk driving charges. In 2009, he was arrested on charges of speeding and drunken driving in Normal, Ill. with a blood-alcohol level twice the legal limit.
