‘Saturday Night Live’ Ratings Up Week To Week; Cold Open Features Children’s Choir
Last night’s Saturday Night Live, with host Martin Short and musical guest Paul McCartney (+ Nirvana) drew a 5.1/12 in the metered-market households. That was 11% from last week when Jamie Foxx hosted with musical guest Ne-Yo and best since Oct. 20 (host Bruno Mars). In the 25 markets with Local People Meters, SNL averaged a 2.8/12 in adults 18-49, up 8% from last week and best since Nov. 3 (Louis C.K. and fun).
The Christmas-themed show kicked off with a moving tribute to the victims of the Connecticut elementary school killings, with a cold open featuring The New York Children’s Chorus performing Silent Night. The skit highlights included a stage production of You’re a Rat Bastard, Charlie Brown with Larry David (spot-on Short) as Linus, Edie Falco’s Nurse Jackie (Kate McKinnon) as Lucy and Al Pacino (Bill Hader) as Charlie (Video below)
