Savannah Guthrie Anchoring ‘Nightly News’ While Lester Holt Tends to Family Medical Emergency

“Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie will fill in for the Brian Williams-less “Nightly News” for a brief period while temporary anchor Lester Holt deals with a family medical emergency, NBC News told TheWrap Monday.

Holt has been filling in for the suspended Williams and was set to continue before an unspecified family emergency presented itself.

With Holt in the anchor chair, Nightly News has kept its lead in total viewers over ABC’s “World News Tonight” but it fell behind in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demo for the week of February 16th.

Williams is currently in the beginning of a six-month, unpaid suspension for erroneously claiming to have been in an Iraqi helicopter that was shot down by RPG fire in 2003.
