Pilot Scoop: Sopranos Vet, Drea de Matteo, to Headline Lifetime Drama, Stalkers
Sopranos vet, Drea de Matteo, has landed the lead role in Stalkers, a two-hour movie/backdoor pilot for Lifetime, based on Rhonda Saunders’ book, Whispers of Fear: The True Story of the Prosecutor Who Stalks the Stalkers.
The project follows Diane Harper, a hot-headed cop with a troubled past (De Matteo) and a polished DA, who team up to bring a stalker, obsessed with her former lover, to justice.
Stalkers will be exec-produced by Craig Piligian and penned by David Wiener (Last Resort).
De Matteo, whose post-Sopranos credits include the Friends spin-off, Joey, and a season-long arc on Desperate Housewives, is currently recurring on Sons of Anarchy.
