Screen International Editor Named CEO of Protagonist Pictures

Mike Goodridge has been named chief executive officer of Protagonist Pictures, the international sales and financing company said Tuesday.

The former editor of Screen International replaces Ben Roberts, who left Protagonist in April to become head of the BFI's film fund.

Goodridge has worked at Screen International since 1994, serving as a top editor of the film publication in Los Angeles and more recently London. He started his career at The Business Of Film in 1990, eventually becoming editor of the publication.

"I am very excited to be taking over the reins at Protagonist, which has grown into such an identifiable brand so quickly in the marketplace," Goodridge said in a statement.

Protagonist Pictures was established in 2008. It has the backing of four major shareholders, Vertigo Films, Film4, Ingenious Media, company chairman Nigel Williams.

Among the titles it has handled are "Bronson," "The Deep Blue Sea" and "Submarine." It is currently shooting Richard Ayoade's "The Double" starring Jesse Eisenberg and Mia Wasikowska, and Farren Blackburn's "Hammer of the Gods."
