See Kanye West’s Bizarre 13-Minute VMAs Speech Decoded in 2 Minutes: Wrap Trends (Video)

At the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Video Vanguard Award winner Kanye West delivered a long, rambling, incoherent speech in which he offered a semi-apology for his past transgressions, admitted to being high on stage and announced plans for a future presidential run.

Six years after West famously stole the microphone from Swift on stage at the VMAs, the duo officially put the feud to rest when the pop star presented the rapper with MTV’s lifetime achievement award.

“Thank you, Taylor, for being so gracious and giving me the award this evening,” he said. “I think, if I had to do it all again, what would I have done? … If I had a daughter at that time, would I have went on stage and grabbed the microphone from someone else’s?”

What followed was less touching. West went on to criticize awards shows for pitting artists against each other, right before non-ironically accusing the Dixie Chicks of stealing the Best Album Grammy from Justin Timberlake and CeeLo Green.

But West saved the best part of his speech for last: “And yes, as you probably could’ve guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president,” he said just before dropping the mic and walking off the stage … without his award.
