Spike Renews ‘Ink Master’ for Season 7, Adds Spin-off

Spike TV’s tattoo competition “Ink Master” has been penned in for a seventh season with a spin-off series also in the works, the network announced on Wednesday.

The Dave Navarro-hosted “Ink Master” will return with 16 one-hour episodes in spring of next year; season six debuts on June 23. The network also announced details of “Ink Master: Redemption,” a spin-off that gives disgruntled tattoo recipients a do-over.

“With Americans spending more than $1 Billion annually on tattoos, ‘Ink Master’ has definitely hit a chord with viewers and has continued to grow as one of our most gender-balanced original series,” said Senior Vice President, Original Programming, for Spike, Chachi Senior. Acknowledging further interest among viewers in what happens when a client leaves the tattoo chair unhappy, the network created “Ink Master: Redemption” “to help answer those questions,” Senior said.

The six half-hour episodes of “Ink Master: Redemption,” will go into production this summer for a September premiere.

The fifth season of “Ink Master” was the show’s most-watched to date, averaging 2.2 million viewers and ranking among the top five in its timeslot in the 18-49 demographic.

“Ink Master” is produced for Spike by Endemol Shine North America’s Original Media (“Swamp People,” “Comic Book Men”), with executive producers Steven Weinstock, Glenda Hersh and Andrea Richter.

Season six of Spike’s “Ink Master” premieres on Tuesday, June 23 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
