This article, Stephen Colbert Interviewing Eminem on Public Access Is Pure Magic, originally appeared on TVGuide.com.

Stephen Colbert still has some time before he has to be behind the desk at The Late Show, but he's not just sitting around twiddling his thumbs. He's already taken to the internet to document shaving his beard and address the Supreme Court's same-sex marriage decision, and now he's hitting the streets...of Monroe, Michigan.

On Wednesday Colbert made an appearance on Mpact, a public-access television station in Monroe (population 20,405), where he filled in as the host of "Only in Monroe," a local interest program, shot in all its standard definition glory.

In the 41-minute broadcast he shared facts about the city, interviewed its regular moderators, Michelle Bowman and Kaye Lani Rae Rafko Wilson (also the winner of the 1988 Miss America pageant), and shined a light on a heated conflict between a local restaurant and a Yelp contributor. He even held a nail-painting competition with Bowman.

Colbert also interviewed "a local Michigander who is making a name for himself in the competitive world of music," aka Marshall Mathers, aka Eminem. The two discussed Eminem's lyrics, announced what's happening on the Monroe community calendar and more. The rapper even offered Colbert some advice ahead of his Late Show gig.
