Late ESPN Anchor Stuart Scott’s Daughters Receive Sports Emmy From Ernie Johnson

Stuart Scott was fondly remembered by everyone at the Sports Emmys awards show on Tuesday, and none more so than Ernie Johnson.

The Turner sportscaster won the award for Best Studio Host but instead of keeping the trophy, he presented it to the daughters of the late ESPN anchor, who died of cancer in January.

“This belongs to Stuart Scott,” Johnson said, as he handed over the award to Taelor and Sydni Scott.

During his acceptance speech for his work on TNT’s “Inside the NBA,” Johnson went on to tell the audience: “It all started with Stuart.”

Sydni, who attended the 2014 Espys with Stuart last July, was in the audience when he accepted the Jimmy V Perseverance Award (pictured above) and made an inspirational speech that quickly went viral.

“When you die, it does not mean that you lose to cancer. You beat cancer by how you live, while you live and the manner in which you live,” Scott said.

Johnson has endured his own battle with cancer after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2003. He continued to work on “Inside the NBA” while receiving chemotherapy treatments.
