Super News! Supergirl Officially Takes Flight at CBS

Supergirl is ready to fly at CBS, landing a series order for the 2015-2016 season, TVGuide.com has learned.

The new super-series stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El. Born on the planet Krypton, Kara escaped amid destruction. Since arriving on Earth she's been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin Superman, but now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be a hero.

Supergirl also stars Calista Flockhart, Mehcad Brooks, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood.

Fall 2015 TV scorecard: Which shows are returning? Which aren't?

The drama comes from Greg Berlanti and Ali Adler, with Berlanti's Arrow and Flash comrade Andrew Kreisberg also attached.

The pickup makes Supergirl the latest in a long line of comic book series on the major broadcast nets, with Arrow, The Flash and iZombie at CW, Gotham on Fox, NBC's Constantine and ABC's Marvel duo, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter.
