Three reasons fans are thrilled Jessica Lange will return for 'American Horror Story' Season 3

In spite of its current run not yet being over, "American Horror Story" has already been picked up for a third season. With the first season being set in a house of horrors, and the second set in an asylum, no doubt the third season will bring even more surprises. The best piece of news about the miniseries returning next year, is that Jessica Lange has already signed up to be involved! Here are three reasons why her return is a good thing for the show.

She keeps the show grounded in reality

If we're being completely honest, "American Horror Story: Asylum" has been a whole new level of crazy this year. Aliens, doctors "experimenting" on patients, people being possessed, and a murderer disguised as a psychiatrist are just a few of the things we've seen so far. When Jessica Lange is on screen, you can tune out all of the insanity and just focus on her. No matter what madness is happening in the rest of the show, she brings it all back to reality, and that is really needed in a show with so much weird stuff going on.

The fans love her

From the moment Lange appeared in Season 1, fans of the show embraced her. She is an exceptional actress, the kind we don't see so much these days, and she makes for captivating viewing. When the news broke that she'd signed up for Season 2, it sent "American Horror Story" enthusiasts into a frenzy because they couldn't wait to see what she would do next time around.

She is always the heart of the show

What's wonderful about Jessica Lange is that, no matter how evil her character, you can't help but root for her. In Season 1, when she played Constance, she was unspeakably selfish. She put her own needs ahead of the needs of her children, and she would stomp over anyone who tried to stop her getting whatever she desired. Even so, there was always a sadness behind her eyes. Even when she did terrible things, it was difficult not to wonder why, and to keep on searching for a glimmer of kindness. In Season 2, as Sister Jude, she hasn't exactly been the most likeable character. Yet those little snippets of her past show there is a good woman underneath it all.

If Jessica Lange continues to shine as she has so far, fans will never tire of her. Her return for Season 3 means that whether people loved Season 2, or were on the fence about it, they will still come back to see what she does next. Lange is definitely the queen of "American Horror Story," and hopefully, her reign will continue for a long time to come.
