TNT Pulls the Plug on Monday Mornings

Speaking of Morbidity & Mortality… TNT has opted not to renew the hospital drama Monday Mornings for a second season — news that comes on the heels of the cabler’s longer-running Southland getting the hook.

Jennifer Finnigan, who played Monday Mornings doc Tina Ridgeway, was among those who shared the bad news on Friday afternoon, via Twitter:

TNT released a statement about this decision, saying:

We are extremely grateful to executive producers David E. Kelly, Bill D’Elia and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, on whose novel the series was based. They crafted a unique and powerfully moving drama full of memorable situations and characters brought to life by a terrific ensemble cast. Unfortunately the show never built its audience enough to warrant its continuation

Earlier this spring, TNT renewed Dallas for Season 2 as well as greenlit the new dramas Legends (starring Sean Bean) and The Last Ship (with Eric Dane and Adam Baldwin), both of which will bow in 2014.

TNT’s Falling Skies, Major Crimes, Rizzoli & Isles and Franklin & Bash all premiere new seasons this summer, while King & Maxwell debuts June 10.
