TV Land to End ‘Soul Man’ Following Season 5

“The Soul Man,” the multi-camera comedy starring Cedric the Entertainer, will return for a fifth and final season, TV Land announced Tuesday.

“It has been amazing working with Cedric, Niecy, Wesley and the rest of the cast and crew on what has truly been a memorable and fun experience,” Keith Cox, TV Land executive VP of development and original programming said. “We appreciate the fans and all the love the show has received over the years, and we plan to give the viewers something very special this season.”

The end of “The Soul Man,” a spin off of “Hot in Cleveland,” will leave TV Land with just one multi-camera comedy, “The Exes.” The network has shifted toward single-camera comedies such as the recently premiered “Impastor” and “The Jim Gaffigan Show” as it rebrands itself for an audience of Generation Xers.

“The Soul Man” is produced by Sean Hayes’ Hazy Mills Productions. Suzanne Martin, Cedric the Entertainer and Eric C. Rhone serve as executive producers with showrunners Bill Martin and Mike Schiff.
