USA! USA! USA!

In a perfectly timed matchup, the U.S. women's soccer team dominated defending champions Japan 5-2 Sunday to win the Women's World Cup. It is their first title since 1999 and their third World Cup title overall.

If you didn't already know her name, come Monday it's safe to say everyone will be singing Carli Lloyd's praises. She led the U.S.' efforts, scoring a first-half hat trick, which helped put the U.S. ahead 4-0 in the first 16 minutes of the game. Japan never even stood a chance, as the game would go on to become the highest scoring final in Women's World Cup history.

This win feels like the perfect ending to the holiday weekend and allowed the U.S. to avenge America's heartbreaking loss to Japan in the 2011 World Cup.
