'The Walking Dead' Season 3 preview: Where we left off

Yahoo Contributor Network

The Season 2 finale of "The Walking Dead" left fans frothing at the mouth like walkers waiting for their next meal. With so much happening in the last few episodes, fans might not remember all that needs to be watched for during the Season 3 premiere. If you have forgotten, these are the main issues the cast of characters is dealing with.

Deaths, an attack, and life

Shane, Dale, Patricia, Randall, and Jimmy all lost their lives in the last few episodes of the Season 2. Andrea was separated from the group during the zombie attack, which forced the survivors to flee Hershel's farm. As she was being chanced through the woods by walkers, a mysterious sword-wielding figure saved her life. Readers of the comic know the mysterious figure toting two disfigured zombies as fan-favorite Michonne.

Reformation

Most of the survivors (excluding the dead and Andrea) reformed, and Rick declared his official, and unchallengeable, rule over the group. He also informed everyone that Dr. Jenner had told him how everyone was infected, and it did not take a bite to cause someone to turn into a walker. Season 3 will open as the characters try to figure out how they are going to deal with these two revelations. Lori, on the other hand, will be dealing with how she still apparently had feelings for Shane and her anger at Rick for killing him.

New paths

The final moments of the previous season found the survivors very close to the prison featured in the comic book version of "The Walking Dead." Photos that have come out reveal Merle Dixon making a return this season, and The Governor being introduced along with the survivors of Woodbury. It should be an exciting season indeed!
