What to Watch: The TVLine-Up for Wednesday

On TV this Wednesday: American Idol will rock you, Kiernan Shipka steps into Apartment 23, Revenge uncovers a shocking identity, Joan Rivers is Hot in Cleveland and more. In addition to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are seven programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm American Idol (Fox) | In a Queen-centric performance edition, the Idol hopefuls will share the stage with the band’s guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor.

8:30 pm Best Friends Forever (NBC) | Jessica’s foray into the dating world begins with a Facebook message from a former crush and ends at an unusual frat party. Meanwhile, Lennon and Joe struggle to find, ahem, intimate time together in their new living situation.

10 pm Law & Order: SVU (NBC) | A string of rapes inspires a group of vigilantes to organize against both neighborhood crime and the NYPD. The SVU squad struggles to find a lead in the case — until one of the vigilantes is attacked.

10 pm Revenge (ABC) | Victoria’s pawns are caught in the middle of an insidious cover-up and have to pay the ultimate price when Emily uncovers the identity of her father’s murderer. Elsewhere, Declan’s testimony marks the beginning of the end of his relationship with Charlotte. (Watch a clip!)

10 pm Whitechapel (BBC America) | When a babysitter is murdered, the child claims that the “Bogeyman” did it, but the team suspects a recently-escaped psychiatric patient (who also happens to be a former Whitechapel resident).

10 pm Total Blackout (Syfy) | This extreme game show, hosted by former Family Matters star (and current Dancing With the Stars hoofer) Jaleel White, relies on the fear of the unknown: Contestants are surrounded by complete darkness, scared of not only the nerve-wracking challenges, but also of themselves.

10 pm Hot in Cleveland (TVLand) | Elka’s twin sister (Joan Rivers!) returns to Cleveland for a visit, while billionaire Artie Firestone (SNL‘s Jon Lovitz) comes to Melanie and Victoria for a makeover, hoping to become more appealing to women.
