What Happens to Wes Craven’s TV Projects Now?

Horror master Wes Craven‘s in-development projects will still move forward despite his death on Sunday.

Craven had a full plate and was in development on several television projects when he died at the age of 76 after a long battle with brain cancer.

In April, Craven signed a first-look deal with Universal Cable Productions (UCP) with a focus on creating scripted programming for NBCUniversal and other networks.

Under the deal, Craven and UCP were developing adaptations of “The People Under the Stairs” and “We Are All Completely Fine” for Syfy, and an adaptation of Steve Niles’ comic “Disciples,” which has no distribution partner yet.

According to UCP, all of Craven’s in-development projects will continue.

“Wes Craven was a master artist, a gentleman and it was our pleasure to work with him,” said UCP in a statement. “It is our intention to bring to life all the projects Wes developed at Universal Cable Productions. Thankfully these projects have benefitted greatly from his development and guidance since their inception. They will continue in his honor and spirit.”

“Wes Craven was an icon,” added Syfy in a statement. “Syfy mourns the loss of this great visionary who helped shape an entire generation of horror. We are honored to have had the opportunity to work with him and, along with Universal Cable Productions, will continue to develop ‘The People Under the Stairs’ and ‘We Are All Completely Fine’ — projects to which Wes had already contributed so greatly — in his spirit.”

Craven was also set to direct one episode of The Weinstein Company’s “Ten Commandments” miniseries for WGN America, but there’s no word yet on a replacement director.

He also had an adaptation of “Sleepers” in the works with Federation Entertainment.
