Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge and Christopher Meloni star in the Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios production about a group of slaves who aim to travel 600 miles to escape from a Georgia plantation. Jessica De Gouw co-stars.

Misha Green (“Sons of Anarchy”) and Joe Pokaski (“CSI”) created the show and exec produce with Akiva Goldsman of Weed Road Pictures and Tory Tunnell and Joby Harold of Safehouse Pictures. Anthony Hemingway, an alum of “The Wire” and “Treme,” will direct the first two episodes.

“Underground” is set to begin production on a 10-episode order in the spring for a 2016 debut.
