Anyone that watches the hit ABC show, "Desperate Housewives," knows that the four women - Teri Hatcher as Susan Mayer, Felicity Huffman as Lynette Scavo, Marcia Cross as Bree Van de Kamp and Eva Longoria as Gabrielle Solis - of Fairview's Wisteria Lane always stick together. They share their lives, their friendship and most importantly, their secrets. But one thing that isn't a secret for the ladies is their salaries.

Television's Highest Paid Actresses:

The highest paid television actresses were revealed in a new article at It's no surprise that the two most compensated are "30 Rock" creator and star, Tina Fey, and "Desperate Housewives" co-star, Eva Longoria. "The '30 Rock' and 'Desperate Housewives' stars tied for the top spot on Forbes' list of the highest paid TV actresses. Both women earned $13 million between May 2010 and May 2011."

The rest of this list included veteran actresses such as Mariska Hargitay of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," Marg Helgenberger of "CSI," Courteney Cox of "Cougar Town," and Julianna Margulies of "The Good Wife."

All For One and One For All:

What I find amazing is that the top list also included "Desperate Housewives" co-stars Cross at $10 million, Huffman at $9 million and Hatcher, also at $9 million each. We really haven't seen such an across the board equality since NBC's "Friends," whose stars earned $22 million toward the end of the series.

Other television stars that have seen lucrative paychecks are Jerry Seinfeld, Bill Cosby and Ray Romano, whose shows, like "Desperate Housewives," had a long tenure and high ratings. Romano went on to become the highest paid television actor in history earning nearly $50 million toward the end of the series.

Checking Egos at the Door:

But, like "Friends," it's rare to see an entire ensemble cast share roughly the same amount of earnings. This could be a testament of why the main actresses have stayed with the series. With "Desperate Housewives" in its final season, the ladies from Wisteria Lane will go down as one of the greatest ensemble casts in television history.

It's nice to see that egos and selfishness haven't reared their ugly heads. As self-centered as some of their actions have been on the show, one thing is for certain, each actress showed altruistic actions when it came to sticking together.
