After four contenders were essentially crowned the winner of the first season, The Glee Project stayed true to its word by only choosing one winner this season. So, did Muslim-American Aylin come out on top? Or was it the bubbly Ali? How about the only man left standing, Blake? Before we find out who won the seven-episode guest-starring role on Glee, let's take a look at how the final three got to the end:

This week's homework assignment was "You Can't Stop the Beat" from Hairspray, which was (not so) coincidentally airing before and after the finale on Oxygen. Blake, Aylin and Ali were joined by the rest of the Season 2 contenders, who lent their voices for the homework assignment.

In a twist, this week's mentor, Chris Colfer, who plays Kurt Hummel on Glee, chose all three contestants as winners of the homework assignment, meaning they'd all get a personal session with Colfer before filming the final music video, "Tonight, Tonight," by Hot Chelle Rae.

In a prom-themed video, Aylin portrayed a girl sneaking out to the dance against her parents' wishes, Blake played a popular-but-humble prom king and Ali was a flirty mean girl. Season 1 co-winner Damian McGinty made a surprise appearance during the video shoot, offering some words of wisdom before rocking out with the gang.

Sticking with her mean-girl act, Ali took on "Popular" from Wicked for her last-chance performance. Though she struggled earlier in the episode with choreography, Ali was strong through vocals, the music video and the final performance. "It's impossible to root against her," executive producer Ryan Murphy said after her tune.

For Blake's last-chance performance, he sang "I'll Be," by Edwin McCain. Though he had some problems with his vocals earlier, he was solid through the music video. After his final performance, Blake showed his poetic side by reading the reasons why he would be great on Glee, which brought many of those in the audience to tears.

Aylin sailed through the finale's preliminaries, showing her fun and vulnerable sides, both of which were present in her final performance as she belted out Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." Afterward, Aylin explained to Murphy & Co. that she can handle the pressure of being a Muslim role model on TV. "I think you're inspirational," Murphy said.

During deliberations, the Glee mentors and writers seemed to be Team Ali, which is why Charlie turned everyone's attention to Aylin. But was it too late? In the end, that didn't actually matter. Because Glee is changing so drastically in the fourth season, Murphy said there was only one person who could fit in, and that is Blake.

"This is the greatest moment of my life," Blake said. "I won The Glee Project and I could not be happier and more grateful. I'm never going to take this for granted. I'm never going to change. I'm going be who I am every single step of the way and I'm so excited."

Were you surprised that Blake won? He's clearly the new Finn, right? Hit the comments with your thoughts!
