‘X-Files’ Adds ‘Flight of the Conchords’ Star Rhys Darby to Cast (Updated)
Rhys Darby will appear in the upcoming “X-Files” miniseries, an individual with knowledge of the casting told TheWrap.
Darby will play a man whom Mulder suspects in a series of what appear to be animal attacks. He also tweeted out a link to a story by New Zealand journalist and Darby’s friend David Farrier with the words “The truth is out there…,” a phrase popularized by the Fox show’s original run.
The New Zealand-born actor played band manager Murray on the cult hit HBO show “Flight of the Conchords” and recently appeared in the film “What We Do in the Shadows.”
Darby is repped by UTA and Principato Young.

Fox announced in March that the show would return as a limited series. “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” series creator Chris Carter said in a statement. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
During its initial nine-season run, “The X Files” became one of the most successful television dramas of all time, hitting a peak ratings high in 1997 when more than 27 million people tuned in to the Season 5 premiere. The show had earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award.

The currently untitled “X-Files” miniseries will premiere on Fox January 24, 2016.
