‘X-Files’ Revival Event Series Adds ‘Community’ Star Joel McHale

“Community” star Joel McHale is the first new actor added to Fox’s limited series revival of “The X-Files,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The conspiracy-obsessed series, which ran for nine seasons and aired its finale in 2002, is being brought back by Fox as a limited series for a six-episode run. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are reprising their roles as FBI investigators Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, respectively, while Mitch Pileggi is also returning as their boss, Walter Skinner.

McHale is set for the role of Ted O’Malley, a conservative internet news anchor who becomes an unlikely ally in Mulder’s perennial search for “The Truth.”
