This June 1972 photo released by Waterbury Police Department via the Republican-American newspaper shows the body of John Sponza, formerly of Waterbury, in the trunk of a rented Dodge Charger in Waltham, Mass. The car was parked in a supermarket parking lot in Waltham, Mass. Sponza was the boyfriend of Diane McDermott, mother of actor Dylan McDermott, who was killed in 1967. Waterbury police reopened the investigation last year into Diane McDermott's death after Dylan McDermott contacted them with questions, the Republican-American newspaper reported  Sunday and Monday, June 24-25, 2012,  as part of a two-part series.  An investigation concluded that actor Dylan McDermott's mother was killed in by Sponza, who lived with McDermott at the time.
