‘Dance Moms’: The Most Ridiculous Quotes From the Season Premiere

Abby Lee's reign of terror continues on Season 2 of 'Dance Moms' (Scott Gries/Lifetime)Abby Lee's reign of terror continues on Season 2 of 'Dance Moms' (Scott Gries/Lifetime)We were a bit worried that "Dance Moms" would lose its sparkle after the masterpiece that was Season 1. But within the first minute of last night's premiere, we knew we had nothing to worry about: Abby Lee Miller is back, and as twisted as ever. The plotline about casting a new girl was completely over-the-top and cruel, and if we took a shot every time Abby told a child or mother that "Everyone's replaceable," we'd be a goner. Moving forward, the jury's still out on whether Jill and Kendall will be a satisfying addition to the group, but until then, let's all laugh at the most ridiculous -- and, not-so-coincidentally, heinous -- lines of the evening. Shockingly, none came from Cathy, but we've got all season for those.

"Everyone wants to see them fail."
—Abby, on the girls. She uttered this sentiment many times in different ways, but we're still not convinced that being in a no-name singer's music video would prompt extreme competition from children and dance teachers throughout the country. Really, this line -- especially backed by Jill's comments about avoiding Abby Lee Dance Studio because of the terrible (and accurate) things she had heard about Abby -- made us feel really bad for the girls. If any of them dances through her adulthood, it'll be a miracle.

Watch the "Dance Moms" season premiere in full right here:

"You're not six and under. You're seven and over."
—Abby, to Mackenzie, during practice for their "hot, high-energy jazz routine." In case it's not obvious, this was meant as a serious threat. Later, this quote was countered by the adorable and excited Mackenize, who told cameras, "For this number, I'm stuck in a box and I can't get out."

"Your mother could care less about you winning a title."
—Abby, manipulating Nia about her mother, Holly. We love Abby-Holly drama, as it usually is filled with the most insanity.

[Giveaway: Enter to Win a 'Dance Moms' Workout Prize Pack]

"My dad even took me to the mother-daughter talk about having your period."
—Abby, in an ultimate TMI moment, to Holly, while telling her what a terrible person she was for being a working mom. Abby also later screamed, "I had a mother and a father, and if they looked at me one time, I knew. One look!" to Kelly, a nonsensical threat about discipline that we still don't entirely understand.

"I would get Abby a three-month trial membership to Weight Watchers, if I were to give her a gift. It's the gift that would keep on giving."
    —Christi, epically burning Abby.

[Reality TV Showdown: 'Dance Moms' vs. 'Toddlers & Tiaras']

"Are you crying? No tears. You save those tears for your pillow, in your room, alone. You're going to humiliate yourself in front of everyone in this dressing room. Do not cry. Suck it up, kid. You are here, you're healthy, you are one lucky little girl. Act like it."
—Abby to Kendall, just one of the many girls she made cry, despite the fact that they won the stupid competition.

"'I don't have to pay on time, I'm Kelly Highland.' I've been doing this for 30 years... You're the reason I don't take Discover anymore."
—Abby to Kelly, to which Kelly replied: "Oh, you are a whore!"

"Dance Moms" airs Tuesdays at 9pm on Lifetime.

I've never watched the show...Thank Goodness! The clips here show some cow who masquerades as a teacher, and actually gave these little bimbo-in-training girls guns to use as props? what a disgusting bunch of women, too bad that is what they base their lives on, How shallow.

I think the whole pyramid thing and how she called a little girl insignificant and worthless for joining cheerleading are the most ridiculous things ever. And yet I watch. So I shouldn't really complain.

I love Abby. It's about time children were rewarded for hard work and not just given trophies for participation and effort - oh yeah, that's what public schools are for.

In reality this is how any type of coach are suppose to be towards any athlete or competitive sport. Have you not seen how many competitions these girls have won becuae of Abby?? Every coach should be strict! Your not going to get that trophy or title handed to unless you work hard for it. Plus these mothers know that Abby is a good coach because if she wasn't they would of taken their children elsewhere.

I was watching this woman last night. I was just shocked that this woman actually has a tv show that demonstrates how absolutely awful she truly is. Abby Lee Miller is a child abuser, and is the most hateful, ugly, viscious human being I've ever seen in my entire life!! How can they put this no good slob on tv? She's is nothing to look at, nothing I ever want to watch for one second ever again! I hate you woman. I think you should be arrested or worse!!! I detest you. I pray that you are taken off my tv very soon!

If a mother treated her children as this dance teacher does she would be picked up for child abuse. Nothing attractive about this woman and not just physically - she is every kid's nightmare. If this is how dance teachers are going to be portrayed in children's classes I will definitely not watch this loud, annoying show again. It's all about greed, and sensationalism.

Uhhhhmmm....Unless you count the totally unconvincing and short-lived efforts to "protect" their kids from the verbal and emotional abuse being dished out by their dance teacher, there's no protecting their kids being done by these mothers at all. There must not be a lot of quality dance academies out in Pittsburgh - don't the moms from "dance moms" realize that if they really loved their kids they'd move them someplace that has 'competition-winning, awards-receiving, professional-career-making, everyone-wants-to-attend-here' dance academies on nearly every other block? And given that its the kids who Abby is teaching the routines and putting on the competition stage, so the only thing that the moms from 'dance moms' are needed around for is comic relief, #$%$ and snarks to each other while they sit and watch their kids through the glass viewing window....why do they get hassled on whether or not they're on site - those monthly bills for the hours these kids spend at the studio don't pay themselves you know!

I can't believe how she talks to those girls. I saw an episode where her little doggie was brought to her studio. She spoke to her doggie like she was a little princess. How would she like it if someone spoke to her dog like she speaks to those girls?? She would have a fit! Then maybe she'd get a taste of how those girls feel when she speaks to them the way she does, and might possibly understand why the girls' mothers try to protect them from her verbal and emotional abuse.

The moms and Abby are over-the-top in this show and very inappropriate! These kids will never forget what they've been put through by these women living who vicariously through these little girls. I watch the show because I like to watch the kids dance. The two little stars, Chloe and Maddie are brilliant already (nondancer here!), and the other kids are fun to watch as well.

Not only the most ridiculous quotes, it is also the most ridiculous show on t.v.
      • Brian 4 months ago
No, unfortunately there are MANY more shows just as crappy as this one.

Let's not forget this is a reality show. I read several months ago an article from some Pittsburg paper and some of the comments were from parents who had children in Abby's school, they said it was not like it is portrayed on tv, otherwise they wouldn't let their child walk in the front door.

One of those stage mothers ought to b****slap that pig into next week. Opps, sorry. You're all there for the pub and getting booted off the show would be a bad move. What in the world was I thinking????

shut up. Turns out she's RIGHT. You don't wanna win, put your princess in another studio!!!

the kids have a good deal of regard for this woman because they reap the benefits of winning. This isn't someone taking kids without a chance and trying to make something out of them, this woman takes way above average dancers and creates wonderful moments for them. Again and again you hear Chloe and Paige as well as Nia and the dark haired older girl be upset but couching it with the fact that they know they will win. Could I deal with this as a parent of a child there? Perhaps if this is something I knew that at this stage of the childs life, this is what they wanted.
It's about rising to the top and being the best you can be. The horrid woman seems to bring the best out in the kids.
